VTC�s Outreach Program serves out-of-school youth between 16-24 years of age who reside in the cities of Southside Hampton Roads (Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Virginia Beach). Youth are tested for academic achievement levels and provided with remedial instruction if applicable. Youth receive one-on-one mentoring services focusing on education and employment preparation. Participants have the opportunity to either work towards their GED or enroll in a post-secondary educational program. Other topics addressed include building a resume, interview skills training, assistance with finding and applying to jobs, financial aid information, scholarship sources, work stipend opportunities, and monetary incentives for completing significant program milestones.
